HPCSA

The Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) is a statutory body, established in terms of the Health Professions Act and is committed to protecting the public and guiding the professions.

Art Therapists in South Africa are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. They are required to adhere to the ethics of the HPCSA. There are 17 booklets that outline the ethics of the health care professions in South Africa. Art therapies is mentioned in booklet 2, Annexure 7 of the HPCSA code of ethics. Art therapists are guided in their profession by these standards and the public may report art therapists who do not adhere with HPCSA legal implications.
